Science popularization | How to judge whether the waterproof paint at the construction site meets the standard of use
Waterproof paint is a commonly used waterproof material in construction projects. After the waterproof paint is transported to the construction site, how do the owner, supervisor and general contractor confirm the quality of the waterproof material?
1. Determine the waterproof coating selected for the design and its quality requirements
There are many varieties of waterproof coatings, which are divided into organic waterproof coatings and inorganic waterproof coatings according to the material properties; according to the main components, there are modified asphalt, polyurethane, polymer cement, polymer emulsion, etc.; according to the characteristics, there are fast coagulation, non-curing, etc.; according to the solvent, there are water-emulsion type, solvent-type, solvent-free, etc.; according to the composition, there are single-component, double-group Divided and multi-component; according to the construction method, there are brushing, scraping, spraying, pressing, etc., which may appear in the name of waterproof paint. Moreover, there are different models of general waterproof coatings. For example, the commonly used polyurethane waterproof coatings and polymer cement waterproof coatings are all type I, type II and type III. The main technical indicators of different models are quite different, and the parts of use are also different. Many design drawings often cannot clearly explain the specifications and models of the waterproof paints used in the project, and the names of the materials marked in some drawings are not standardized. Code names, abbreviations, alias, etc. appear, and may even directly mark a large category of materials, such as synthetic polymer waterproof coatings, etc., which will be for subsequent materials. Procurement and on-site inspection bring great uncertainty. Therefore, the construction site should first understand the design intention before purchasing materials, clarify the varieties, specifications, models, etc. of the materials, and obtain the approval of the design and the owner, and on this basis, determine the test standards for waterproof coatings entering the site.
2. Entry acceptance of waterproof coatings
The on-sit acceptance of waterproof coatings should be done in the following aspects:
(1) Check the varieties, specifications and models of waterproof coatings, and compare them with design drawings or design confirmations to confirm that they meet the design requirements;
(2) Check the quantity of waterproof coatings. Two-component or multi-component coatings should check the number of materials of each component according to the matching ratio. Waterproof coatings entering the site in batches should be formulated according to the total demand of the project and checked according to the batch entry plan;
(3) Check the quality certification documents of waterproof coatings and confirm them with the supervising engineer or the owner's representative; the quality certification documents should generally include product qualification certificate, factory inspection report and type inspection report within the validity period.
(4) Take samples to inspect the appearance quality and physical properties of waterproof coatings; the appearance quality inspection shall be carried out on site by the construction unit together with the supervising engineer or the owner's representative. The physical performance inspection shall implement the witness sampling and inspection system, and send it to a third-party inspection agency with corresponding qualifications for testing, and the inspection report shall issue an inspection report. Waterproof paints are generally packaged in iron barrels or plastic barrels. Several barrels of paints are randomly selected according to the prescribed sampling quantity for weight testing and appearance quality inspection. For appearance quality inspection, first check whether the outer packaging is intact, whether the paint name, model, production date, production factory name, product validity period and other information are complete, and then open the barrel to check whether the paint has sedimentation, gel, stratification and other defects. After passing the appearance quality inspection, take the quantity of products specified in the standard and send them for inspection. The sample quantity of each group of waterproof paints is generally 5kg, and two sets are taken at a time, one for inspection, and the other set is sealed for later use.
3. Sampling quantity and inspection items of waterproof coatings
The list of the top 100 Internet enterprises in China mainly refers to the same variety and specification of waterproof coatings on the Internet as an inspection batch for sampling. For example, when waterproof paints enter the field in stages, each batch of waterproof paints entering the field should be sampled according to one inspection batch. The number of samples and inspection items of waterproof paints are shown in Table 1.

4. Qualification of waterproof coatings
If the appearance quality and physical performance indicators are all qualified, it is determined that the batch of waterproof paints are qualified; if two or more indicators do not meet the requirements, it is judged that the batch of waterproof paints are not qualified; if one indicator does not meet the standard provisions, the unqualified items shall be re-examined with a spare sample, and if it meets the standard, it is qualified, otherwise , that is, unqualified products. Unqualified waterproof coils are strictly prohibited from being used in engineering.
